LAPORTE COUNTY’S COUNCIL ON AGING,
A DIVISION OF PARENTS AND FRIENDS, INC.
Since 1973, the mission of the LaPorte County Council on Aging has been to assist LaPorte County residents age 60 and older by providing services that will enable them to live independently in their own homes as long as possible, with support from families, friends, and the community. Over the years, the Council has extended its services to younger individuals with disabilities or other extenuating circumstances.
The new millennium also signified a new era for both the LaPorte County Council on Aging and Parents and Friends, Inc. A merger between the two resulted in the Council on Aging becoming a department of Parents and Friends on January 1st, 2000. This has enabled the Council on Aging to continue its important work. Dawn Biela serves as the Council on Aging Director, under Parents and Friends Executive Director Carl Scott.
Now, more than ever, it makes sense to pool resources and build partnerships to provide the best, most efficient service to the aged and disabled of LaPorte County. If the Council on Aging can fill a niche in your life, please do not hesitate to call the office.
