ADVOCACY PROGRAM

imageAdvocacy clients receive case management with services personalized to fit their needs.  This program differs from Guardianship in that the Council On Aging has no legal authority.  The responsible parties (ex. family members, trust companies) hire the Council to provide hands-on care that they cannot due to distance or time constraints.

An example is someone whose father has Alzheimer’s disease.  This individual may not be able to attend all of Dad’s doctor’s appointments, but needs to know how the disease is progressing to be able to make the best decisions.  The father himself is not able to remember the information and instructions from the doctor long enough to convey them.  The Advocacy Program can provide individualized attention at medical or other appointments and report back to the responsible party.
